The dream of having a coffee shop and gift shop only came true when I moved my first shop ‘Puddleduck Patch’ to larger premises.
We made good coffee, good food and it quickly became popular with locals and tourists. We sold lovely gifts, did quilting classes and also Bed and Breakfast.
The place had a real buzz about it and we had many happy days in Cullen.
We then applied for planning permission to change our garages into a delicatessen.
When permission was granted I thought ‘Oh No! More work!
So, we decided to sell our shop.
Having moved in December 2007 to Fordyce and worked part-time for a year catering at Cullen Golf Club I soon realised how much I missed the coffee and gift shop side of the business.
I approached Aberdeenshire Council and within eight weeks had full planning permission to change my dining room into a shop.
Fordyce is a hidden gem – a truly delightful village and well worth a walk around and what better at the end of it than to visit Annie’s Gift Shop for a welcome cup of tea and something delicious to eat.
